You are reading this page because you need to know how to perform a "Tracert" or a "Traceroute".
If you find your site unavailable, there is the remote possibility it may be caused by an internet failure somewhere between your computer and our servers.
We have seen this happen with various providers whereby the traversal from your computer to our server stops halfway on network nodes which are outside of our control.
Running a traceroute will help you determine where the problem starts.
How to do a "TRACERT" or "TRACEROUTE" on Windows OS
1. Click on 'Start' and then 'Run'. (If you are using Windows 7 and above then Click on Start icon and select All Programs > Accessories and then Command Prompt)
2. In the box type 'cmd' (without the quotes) and click OK.
3. At the command prompt that pops up in the black box type tracert domain.ext (replace domain.ext with your domain name and extension).
It may take a few seconds but will give a traceroute from your computer to the destination you typed in.
You will some results looking like in the screenshot below.
4. To copy the results, right click on the window and choose 'Select All'. This will copy the contents to your clipboard and the box contents will turn white with black text. Like this:
5. Go to the document you want to put the results into (email to tech support), right click and choose paste (or ctrl V).
We can then have a look where the blockage is and try and identify the issue.
