0822CET - During the early hours today, apache has gone down on the molly server due a misconfiguration on modsecurity.

In addition, due to an issue in the data centre, sys admins were not immediately alerted to the issue.

The issue with apache is now resolved and after investigating we know exactly why apache went down.

We apologise for any incovenience caused. We take these issues very seriously.

Last month, one of our customers had some software on their account which was giving them some errors due to badly coded software giving them a "sql injection error" whenever they saved a post. When they were saving a spot their software was triggering the firewall and triggering mod security rule 341245.

At that time we had to manually disable the rule on their account so they could continue working.

All was fine for the last few weeks, except for today, when apache was doing a graceful restart, it was failing and giving an error (as inidcated below).

Although we are aware now why apache was not restarting, we still are not sure why its been working for several weeks and then suddenly giving an error.

So we are looking into it and also resolving the issue of monitoring with the data centre.

Again, our sincerely apolgies with this.
